Kathy Oko, PLPC

Hello, my name is Kathy Oko. The decision to find support through a mental health professional is not always easy. By being here, it shows you possess the courage necessary to look inward and heal. As a clinician, I have the privilege to walk alongside clients during trying times. I have a compassionate and direct approach. My commitment is to understand your needs and meet you where you are on your journey to wellness.

I am a trauma-informed therapist who helps clients who are struggling with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, substance use, and trauma/PTSD. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Some of the approaches I use include Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and EMDR. In my experience, this technique can be life changing in releasing trauma that has previously left people stuck.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois as well as a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) in Missouri. I graduated with my masters in clinical mental health counseling from Lewis University in 2019 and my bachelors in psychology and English in 2015 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

I am ready to listen with an open mind and help you reach your treatment goals. I look forward to hearing how I can help you.
